About Me

Hi, I’m Ashley!

Hi there! My name is Ashley & I am the face behind Millennial Kitchen. I have always had a love for cooking & grew up watching endless hours of the Food Network. This love, paired with my teaching background, gives me the tools to help others gain the confidence they need to feel like a pro in the kitchen!

My love for food

I have always had a love for entertaining. Even when I was a child I loved playing ‘bartender’ at my parents parties, because I truly enjoyed serving people. These days I’m serving up more food than cocktails, but the love is still there. I have always had a passion for creating beautiful boards & platters for family dinners, events & parties. As I mentioned before, I watched a lot of Barefoot Contessa, who is the queen of platters so you can really see where this love came from. I think the idea of creating a beautiful piece of art using food & a platter as a canvas is really exciting for me. We live in a world with such beautiful ingredients, it’s a shame to not showcase that more. This was all a very natural progression to my love for cheese boards, because I have always had a deep love for cheese. Fun fact: I only have one tattoo & it’s a wedge of cheese on my left shoulder!

My Family

There are very few things I love more than food. VERY few. My family is one of them. They have been there since day one of my cooking journey & they have always been so supportive. I have to admit, I think it’s pretty easy to be supportive when you’re constantly being fed delicious food, right? Regardless, they’re always there to support me. While most people learn their love of cooking from their mothers, grandmothers etc, I am not one of those people. Yes, I have learned A LOT about cooking & entertaining from my mother & my grandmother, but I always joke that my love for cooking came from my mother’s distain for cooking. She obviously fed us growing up, but cooking was never her passion. This blog wouldn’t exist without the support of the people around me & these people right here, are my support system. Everyone in this picture serves a different role weather it’s my dad calling me & telling me to stop saying “um” so much on my instagram stories, or my older sister single handedly creating my entire original branding. My brother’s job is to eat all the leftovers, my youngest sister tells me the important things like “all the cool kids are on Tik Tok now, so you need one”. My younger sister is my number #1 cheese helper & my mom has the most important role, which is constantly telling me everything I do is perfect & great (even when it’s not). But this is what family is for.

Mr. Millennial Kitchen

The last piece of the Ashley puzzle goes by the name of Sam & he’s my husband. He is a lot of things to me. He’s my support system, my recipe taste tester, lighting guy, occasional camera guy, video assistant, the ultimate unpaid intern, my shoulder to cry on when things don’t work out how I planned, my dance partner & so much more. He has helped me build this brand from the second I uttered the words “I want to start a food blog”. He has always believed that I am destined to do great things, & has made me believe it too. Everything I do is for him, to make him happy, to make him proud, to make him smile. He is the ultimate soulmate who lives to push me. He always pushes me to try new things, to think outside of the box & to not be afraid to fail. Because of all that pushing, here we are!
